What to do about metal cover plates at the base of older baths.

Symptoms

Some customers may experiences issues when trying to use Bath Armor in their old water baths. To troubleshoot these issues, follow the recommendations below.

 

Products Affected: Lab Armor Beads

 
Problem

Metal cover plate in the bottom of older style water baths

 

Resolution

Fill the spaces below and above the cover plate at with Beads

  1. Identify the cover plate. If you see a metal plate similar to what's pictured here, follow these steps outlined below.
  2. Switch bath to OFF position, unplug, and empty water
  3. Remove metal base plate to uncover thermostat or heating element
  4. Clean bath thoroughly with soap and water; rinse tub with 70% ethanol and allow to completely dry
  5. Clean metal base plate thoroughly with soap and water; rinse with 70% ethanol and allow to completely dry
  6. Once completely dry, first fill space beneath metal base plate with Lab Armor Beads then replace the plate
  7. Fill bath to 3/4 volume with Beads
